Our History

A meeting on the State of the Arts in Huntingdon was held Tuesday, June 27, 1972, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Yocum, Jr., 234 Penn Street.

Temporary chairman: Mr. David G. Kunz

Present: Donald G. Everhart, Phyllis Henry, Mrs. David G. Kunz, James Lodge, Wilfred Norris, Marshall Showalter, William E. Swigart, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Warren Yocum, Bernard C. Taylor.

A working group was appointed to draw up a plan of organization for an arts council. Kunz was named acting chairman with Taylor acting secretary; other members are Showalter, Mrs. Yocum, Lodge, and Norris. October 18, 1972, meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Linton, Mifflin Street, a proposed constitution and by-laws were presented and adopted. Mr. Warren Yocum will draw up articles of incorporation as a nonprofit organization.

Temporary officers were appointed: David Kunz, chairman; Mrs. Richard Linton, treasurer; Bernard Taylor, secretary. Meeting held November 6, 1972 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Wilfred Norris, Moore Street to make plans for the public meeting to be held Nov. 27 in the Faculty Lounge, Ellis Hall, Juniata College.
